World Population Day 2021

 

The current world population is 7.9 billion as of July 2021 according to the most recent United Nations estimates. 

The top 3 populous countries in the World are- 
● China,
● India and 
● United states.

Theme of World Population Day 2021 is "Rights and Choices are the Answer: Whether baby boom or bust, the solution to shifting fertility rates lies in prioritizing all people’s reproductive health and rights."

The day is supposed to extend awareness about the need to seek out solutions to issues associated with growing population. 

World population day aims to extend people's awareness on various population issues like the importance of family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights. 
Inspiration for this day is drawn from the interest that was raised by “Five Billion Day” on July 11 1987.This was the day when the world's population reached 5 billion. 

It is necessary that people understand the effect it can have on the environment and the development of our world. Overpopulation is leading to very quickly depleting natural resources in the world.

Another important aspect of World Population Day is to teach the general public about sustainable development. It will ensure that our future generations can also enjoy the same privileges and resources we are able to enjoy at the moment.
